Why Christchurch?
Christchurch is located in the South Island of New Zealand, right on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It enjoys a reputation being both a modern but also an historic city, with many fine examples of English architecture such as the Cathedral, the Arts Centre and many historic homes around the city.
With a population of close to around 350,000 the city has all the conveniences of a large city, but is small enough to still find your way around and feel at home. The international airport connects you to the world, and is only a 1 hr 20 minute flight from Auckland.
Christchurch is a tourist hub and often regarded as the gateway to the heart of the New Zealand, the famous South Island. Within several hours of the city, you can enjoy such a wide range of fun activities:
- Snowboarding & skiing in the Southern Alps
- Hot thermal pools at Hanmer Springs
- Kite-surfing at Ferrymead
- Kayaking or sailing on the Lyttleton Harbour
- Swimming with dolphins in Akaroa
- Surfing or Scuba diving at Taylor’s Mistake
- Bungy jumping and jetboating
