English & Rugby

2011 is a very important year for rugby fans and players in New Zealand. If you are a rugby player and want to be in New Zealand during the World Cup, IEI offers you the perfect opportunity to combine English language studies with Rugby! IEI offers you the chance to study English fulltime and then after school and in the weekends enjoy being a playing member of a local team. The weekly team practice sessions focus on fitness and ball skills, the technical side of rugby including scrummaging, lineouts and tackling, as well as developing game strategies. Being part of a local team enables you to enjoy friendship with a wide range of locals - the perfect place for you to learn real kiwi English, not to mention how exciting it will be to be living and playing rugby in New Zealand during the World Cup! Placement into one of Christchurch’s oldest rugby clubs is possible between February and August. You can start your English course at any time but need to be a current IEI student to access placement to the club.
